Job summary

Richmond Public Schools seeks a classroom assistant to support certified staff in delivering instructional activities and supervising students. You will reinforce reading, math, language arts, and computer instruction, and help prepare materials for lessons.

Under supervision, you will assist in small groups, monitor behavior, accompany students on field trips, and help with record-keeping and safety procedures to ensure an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required or expected.
• Experience with special needs students is desirable.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assists professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to student needs.
• Assists with record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
• Assists with classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
