The position is 9.5-months (191 days) with a start date: immediately; requires lifting up to 50 lbs and autism training within 60 days of start date.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 60 hours of college credits or demonstrated knowledge in reading, writing and math instruction.
• ParaPro Assessment passing score or equivalent.
• At least one year of instructional assistant experience preferred.
• Experience with children with disabilities preferred.
• Excellent communication, organizational, time management and public relations skills required.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and strong business English.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher or supervisor with instructional activities in a special education classroom or one-to-one.
• Assists students in reinforcing material presented through special efforts and repetition.
• Assists students with self-care areas to build independence.
• Prepares and maintains files and reports.
• Assists the teacher in performing duties or specialized tasks.
• Provides individual and group instruction to meet student needs and supervises students in out-of-classroom activities.
