Job summary

Clarkston Community Schools is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant to support Special Needs students. You will help implement individual goals in communication, hygiene and behavior, assist with daily activities, and cooperate with teachers, parents and staff.

Duties include following specific behaviour and medical plans, performing required physical tasks such as wheelchair transfers and personal care, and contributing to a safe, organized classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to implement goals in communication, hygiene and behavior.
• Willingness to be trained in non-violent crisis intervention and physical management.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Implement student goals in communication, hygiene and behavior.
• Follow behaviour and medical plans.
• Communicate with students, staff and parents.
• Perform physical tasks such as wheelchair transfers and hygiene assistance.
• Make quick, accurate decisions regarding instructional and medical plans.
