Luminarias in Monterey Park is seeking a part-time Special Events Set-Up team member to prepare banquet and event spaces per BEOs. You will set tables, chairs, linens, and staging, and help create plated dinners and cocktail hour layouts for events of various sizes.

• Assist with service tasks and communicate changes to supervisors.

This role ensures all rooms are properly arranged, spotless, safe, and ready for guests for plated dinners, cocktail hours, ceremonies, meetings, and special events. The position also supports guest restroom upkeep and assists restaurant teams during peak periods.**Key Responsibilities*** Set and reset banquet rooms according to BEOs, including tables, chairs, linens, staging, décor, and service equipment.* Set up plated dinner service layouts, including silverware, glassware, plates, napkin folds, and service stations.* Prepare rooms for cocktail hours, ceremonies, meetings, and receptions.* Break down event spaces promptly and safely after events conclude.* Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory control of banquet areas, storage rooms, and equipment.* Assist with cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, trash removal, and maintaining clean banquet rooms and guest restrooms throughout events.* Ensure all tables, chairs, linens, and equipment are clean, functional, and properly stored.* Assist banquet servers and supervisors with room adjustments, last‐minute changes, and special setups.* Support restaurant and events teams by polishing silverware, glassware, folding napkins, restocking service items, and other tasks as needed.* Follow all safety, sanitation, and property standards during setup, service, and breakdown.* Report damaged equipment or maintenance needs to management.* Provide professional, courteous support when interacting with guests or clients.## Qualifications**Required Skills & Qualifications*** Familiarity with plated dinner service setup for parties of 300 or more, including proper table settings and service flow.* Ability to lift, push, and pull 40–75 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.* Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously for extended periods.* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written diagrams or BEO instructions.* Fast, efficient, and highly organized to maintain control and inventory of equipment.* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.* Basic communication skills; able to understand verbal and written instructions.* Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment and adapt to last‐minute changes.**Preferred Qualifications*** Previous experience in banquets, events, hospitality..* Experience with banquet furniture, staging, and event‐setup procedures.* Background in hotels, convention centers, or catering venues.**Work Schedule*** Must be available for weekends, evenings, holidays, and variable shifts based on event schedules.* Hours may fluctuate depending on event volume.**Physical Requirements*** Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy equipment.* Ability to move tables, chairs, staging, and other event furnishings safely.* Ability to work in warm, cold, or outdoor environments depending on event needs.***Disclaimer:*** *The above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; and is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.**We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
