Job summary

The City of Provo is seeking a part-time Special Events Lead to join the Recreation Department at the Provo Recreation Center. You will assist the Special Events Coordinator in planning, promoting, and managing a variety of public events for the community.

Responsibilities include developing registration forms, coordinating schedules, producing promotional materials, posting event notices, managing social media content, supervising volunteers, and assisting staff and the public as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Any experience that demonstrates ability to perform the work.
• A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.
• Event-planning experience preferred.
• Social media and marketing experience preferred.

Provo City is looking for a part-time Recreation Lead to work with the Special Events team at the Provo Recreation Center. This position is responsible for assisting the Special Events Coordinator in preparing for, marketing, and managing the various activities and events provided by the Recreation Center to the public.

What is the compensation?

Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour

What is the schedule?

Monday through Saturday. Flexible hours to work around your schedule. Event days are required. Required dates will be discused during the interview. 15 hours per week.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

This position requires office work and outdoor recreation work with sun and some adverse weather exposure. May include exposure to high-stress situations or environments , including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. Requires the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

What is the selection process?

Applicants mustmeet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
