Job summary

Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (EMS) seeks Emergency Medical Technicians (SPECIAL EVENT TEAM) to respond in an emergency vehicle and provide basic life support care at scheduled special events.

The role involves driving, patient assessment, and coordination with hospitals. Requires EMT-B certification, CPR, and continuing education, with prior 911 experience preferred. This is a PRN, non-exempt position in Indianapolis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Indiana EMT – Basic Certification.
• American Heart Association CPR Certification.
• Continuing education to maintain certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency medical care at the basic life support level according to Indianapolis EMS practices and policies, established protocols, verbal and written orders and state regulations.
• Monitors patients while in transport and continues treatment initiated on the scene.
• Drives an emergency vehicle under emergent and non-emergent conditions.
• Performs patient assessments and initiates appropriate treatment.
• Assists the paramedic as indicated.
• Maintains ambulance in operable conditions, including cleanliness and restocking of equipment.
• Maintain communication and medical equipment in the field and report defects for repair or replacement.
• Respond to runs from dispatcher.
• Coordinates with healthcare facilities regarding patients' vital statistics.
• Complete patient care reports and other documentation.
• Provides age-appropriate care (neo-natal, pediatric, adult, geriatric).
• Coordinates public safety personnel in emergency situations.
