Job summary

Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is seeking a Paramedic for the Special Event Team, a PRN role that supports emergency medical care at events and provides basic and advanced life support, transport, and coordination with hospital staff. You will respond in EMS vehicles, follow established protocols, document runs, handle medications, and maintain professionalism under stress.

Requires Indiana Paramedic License, ACLS, CPR, EVO Certification, a valid driver’s license and ongoing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Indiana Paramedic License.
• Currently working in a 911 setting within Marion County or the surrounding counties.
• Valid Driver’s License—must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• American Heart Association CPR Certification.
• Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification.
• Continuing education to maintain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Responds in an IEMS vehicle for coverage of a scheduled special event as directed by the Planning Section Chief.
• Provides specific medical care with physicians and hospital staff according to EMS protocols.
• Calculates drip rates and drug concentrations, administers approved IV meds.
• Documents all relevant information in prescribed formats (Run Report, ESO).
• Responsible for maintaining controlled medications (narcotics).
• Drives an emergency vehicle under emergent and non-emergent conditions.
• Exercises independent judgment in critical emergency situations.
• Coordinates public safety personnel during emergencies.
