Job summary

Family of Kidz in New York is seeking a Special Educator for the Resource Room to support students with IEP goals during school hours across the South Shore/Nassau County area. The role offers part-time or potential full-time hours, with compensation around $60 per hour.

Applicants should hold NYS SWD certification and have experience working with children and families, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• NYS Students with Disabilities Certification K-6, 7-12 or NYS SWD All Grades
• Minimum of 1 year experience focusing on supporting children and families
• Bilingual is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, small-group instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs.
• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
• Review, understand, and implement each student’s IEP mandates.
• Collect ongoing progress data and prepare quarterly progress reports.
• Maintain accurate session notes and submit documentation within required timelines.
• Communicate regularly with general education teachers regarding student needs and accommodations.
• Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed.
• Maintain professional communication with families, school administrators, and related service providers.
• Create a structured, supportive learning environment.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and classroom routines.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
