Job summary

TheraCare is seeking a Special Education Teacher for our Early Intervention program in New York City. You will work with infants and toddlers birth to 3, designing and implementing IFSPs and partnering with families to support educational and functional growth.

The role involves delivering services in home and community settings, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and maintaining compliant documentation. Travel across boroughs is expected.

Qualifications

  • New York State certification in Special Education (Birth-Grade 2) or equivalent.
  • Special Education Permanent Certification or TSSLD/TSHH preferred.
  • Experience with infants or toddlers in early childhood settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to travel within NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct early childhood special education services to children in home and community settings.
  • Implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
  • Conduct developmental assessments and progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Deliver family coaching to encourage developmental growth.
  • Maintain documentation and service logs in compliance with NYC EI requirements.

Position Overview

As a Special Education Teacher in our Early Intervention program, you will work with infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays. You will design and implement individualized intervention plans and partner with families to support their child’s educational and functional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct early childhood special education services to children in home and community settings
  • Implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
  • Conduct developmental assessments and progress monitoring
  • Work collaboratively with families and interdisciplinary team members
  • Deliver family coaching to encourage developmental growth
  • Maintain documentation and service logs in compliance with NYC EI requirements

Qualifications:
