Job summary

Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Early Intervention (Birth to 3) to provide family-centered, individualized services in infants and toddlers’ natural environments in NYC. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and ongoing supervision will support your work with diverse families.

The role requires a Master’s in Special Education, NYS certification (or eligible), and experience with 0–3, especially home-based or community settings.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education required.
  • NYS certification in Special Education (SWD Birth–Grade 2 or equivalent).
  • Authorization as Special Instructor with NYC Early Intervention Program (or eligible).
  • Experience working with children ages 0–3 in home-based or community settings.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/ Mandarin/ Cantonese) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct developmental assessments using standardized tools and observations.
  • Develop and implement IFSPs with families and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide instruction to promote progress across cognitive, communication, social-emotional, motor and adaptive areas.
  • Coach families on strategies to support learning during daily routines.
  • Maintain documentation of session notes, progress reports, and logs per EIP requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with OT/PT/SLP and service coordinators for coordinated care.

Join Our Team as a Special Education Teacher for Early Intervention (EI) and Make a Lasting Impact on Young Lives

Description

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays or disabilities. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, family-centered, and individualized services in the child's natural environment (home or community setting) in accordance with the New York State Early Intervention Program (EIP) guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct developmental assessments using standardized tools and clinical observations.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide special instruction to promote developmental progress in cognitive, communication, social-emotional, motor, and adaptive areas.
  • Coach families and caregivers on strategies to support the child's learning during daily routines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and service logs, in compliance with EIP and agency requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing professional development.
  • Collaborate with related service providers (OT, PT, SLP, Service Coordinators) to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Special Education (required)
  • Candidates with an Internship Certificate may also apply
  • NYS certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities Birth–Grade 2 or equivalent).
  • Authorization as a Special Instructor with the NYC Early Intervention Program (or eligible).
  • Prior experience working with children ages 0–3, especially in home-based or community settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bilingual (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese) is a plus.
