Required Qualifications:

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in a special education field and Minnesota Teacher/Coordinator of Work-Based Learning license

• Knowledge and experience with due process procedures
• Knowledge of career and technical education opportunities for students in the district
• Knowledge and experience working with community-based agencies, including knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation Services eligibility and referral processes

Responsibilities:

• Teach Work-Based Learning Seminar Courses including, direct instruction to students receiving special education services and assist them with attaining their IEP goals and objectives and Transition Activities.
• Coordinate and supervise On-the-Job Training opportunities for students both on-and-off campus
• Complete and maintain accurate Work-Based Learning documentation, including: Training Agreements, Training Plans, Certificate of Liability Insurance, Student Performance Evaluations, record keeping, site observations, seminar requirements, safety training, etc. in a timely manner
• Facilitate and foster a continuous school partnership with vocational rehabilitation services, including an annual student/family orientation, scheduling and completion of individual referral meetings and eligibility paperwork for Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and implementation of Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) in the school setting per state and federal guidelines
• Facilitate career exploration opportunities for students through the coordination of individualized and appropriate course of study options, job shadows, informational interviews, career and technical education programming, and vocational experiences with businesses
• Address barriers to successful employment prior to placement in a worksite (i.e. transportation or training needs)
• Drive district vehicles to vocational service learning sites and other learning opportunities in the absence of a job coach paraprofessional
• Direct the work of job coach paraprofessionals to support the needs of students both in school-based and community-based learning opportunities
• Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with case managers to develop vocational goals for students who demonstrate a disability-related need for Work-Based Learning Services
• Collaborate with the building principal and school counselors to identify students who are experiencing difficulty with the regular school program and may be economically disadvantaged and/or may be identified as potential dropouts and refer them to the Work-Based Learning Program
• Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities as well as those deemed disadvantaged within the school and community-based settings
• Implement proactive and positive Behavioral Intervention Plans in school- and community-based worksites and learning opportunities
• Maintain data as required to monitor and evaluate student progress and communicate regularly with case managers and parents/guardians of students regarding progress of their child
• Complete grading and progress reports at the end of each term per each student's individualized goals and objectives and Transition Activities.
• Adhere to due process guidelines using district recommended methods and instruments to evaluate, identify, and document in the special education evaluation report the disability-related needs of students as they pertain to vocational skills; participate in team decisions regarding eligibility and identification of needs.
• Coordinate work-based learning opportunities for students whose IEP teams have indicated pre-employment skills, career exploration skills, and employment skills as a disability-related need; maintain service coordination for these students as long as the need is identified.
• Maintain compliance with state and federal rules and regulations regarding Work-Based Learning Programs, including participation with WBL Advisory Committee
• Maintain and promote confidentiality per data privacy, Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, FERPA, and HIPPA legislation.
• Participate in relevant staff development opportunities, maintain knowledge regarding promising practices in the field, and stay current with state rules and regulations governing work-based learning programs.
• Possess knowledge of educational technologies and strategies/equipment available to students to support their learning needs
• Communicate effectively and positively with staff, students, parents, and administration.
• Utilize conflict management strategies and resources for support when conflict occurs between staff and/or parents/guardians.
• Attend professional meetings, including, but not limited to, Special Education Department, Counseling Department, and District-Wide Work-Based Learning Meetings as scheduled.
• Other related duties as assigned.
