Job summary

Barnstable Public Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for home tutoring two weeks, delivering 1:1 lessons at the student's home in Barnstable, MA. Schedule is 9:00 am to 11:00 am, 2 hours daily, starting immediately.

Responsibilities include designing lessons aligned to IEP goals, using multi-sensory approaches and assistive technology, and communicating progress with parents. Must have a degree in special education and a valid teaching credential; prior experience with diverse learners is

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, or related field.
Valid teaching credential or special education license preferred.
Experience with diverse learners, including students with autism.
High levels of patience, empathy, strong interpersonal communication, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Deliver customized 1:1 lessons tailored to the student’s pace, style, and goals.
Create lessons, modifications, and track progress relative to IEP goals and benchmarks.
Use multi-sensory approaches, literacy and math strategies, and assistive technology to engage the learner.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates and share strategies.
Progress monitoring: keep logs of sessions, track milestones, and adjust methods in real time.
