Job summary

Massabesic Middle School in Waterboro, ME seeks an experienced Special Education Educational Technician III to support teachers and students within the classroom and resource areas. You will assist with instruction, reinforce learning, and help implement IEPs for students with special needs.

The role requires at least 90 credit hours, Maine ET III Certification or eligibility, strong communication and confidentiality, and willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training.

Qualifications

• Documentation of at least 90 credit hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
• Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Certification and CHRC Approval Certificate.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; understanding of instructional process and students with special needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety issues preferred.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by Administrator/Director.
• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality of student information as required by law.
• Prior educational experience desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Introduce new learning as preplanned with teacher/content specialist.
• Assist in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on students’ needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work set up by teacher.
• Coach students with functional needs; collect and maintain data per student plans.
• Supervise small groups in community-based programs.
• Administer, score and record achievement/diagnostic tests as recommended.
• Help students master equipment/instructional materials.
• Provide input to the IEP process.
• Assist in preparation of instructional materials (copying, typing, filing, laminating, bulletin boards).
• Assist with playground/recess, bus, study hall, detention and lunch duties; supervise during drills and field trips.
