Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required.
• Master's degree in related field required.
• 3 years of teaching experience; 3 years in Special Education required.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Endorsement and Teacher Consultant approval preferred/required.
• Strong organizational skills and data-based decision making.
• Leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students on their caseload.
• Develop curriculum and implement lesson plans; assess progress.
• Communicate with staff, students and parents about needs and progress.
• Serve as case manager for assigned students; coordinate IEPs and meetings.
• Mentor and support new staff in the special education department.
• Ensure students are educated in least restrictive environment.
• Collaborate with district and center administration on program effectiveness.
• Lead professional development on best practices in special education.
