Great Hearts Anthem is seeking an Exceptional Student Services Teaching Assistant for a long-term substitute role.

The position runs from mid-October through December/early January, offering 10–20 hours per week at $16-$18 per hour. The incumbent will support students in academic and behavioral areas, assist with transitions and personal care needs, and provide essential ESS team support in a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required; associate's degree preferred.
• Experience in special education

• Support behavioral and social skills development and reinforce classroom rules.

Position: Exceptional Student Services Teaching Assistant, Long-Term SubstituteDepartment/Location: Great Hearts Anthem (3950 W Arroyo Norte Dr, Anthem, AZ 85087)Reports to: Special Education Campus CoordinatorSupervisor: Campus HeadmasterFLSA STATUS: Hourly/non-exempt, TemporaryHourly Rate: $16-$18 per hourThis long-term substitute role is a temporary assignment from Mid-October through December/early January, with a part-time schedule of 10- 20 hours per week.Roles and Responsibilities:Academic SupportSupports students in small groups or 1:1Assist students with assignments, homework, projectsUnderstanding how to adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn the materialHelp students understand the classroom rules and reinforce the classroom rulesBehavior SupportMonitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions.Implement behavior management strategiesAssist students with developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviorsAssist with de-escalating student behaviors and ask for support for General Education Teacher and Special Education Team Members as neededReinforces SDI concepts that have already been in effectAdditional SupportHelp students with transitions and activities.Support students with personal hygiene needs such as toileting, feeding, and dressingSupport students with mobility and adaptive equipmentProvides general clerical support for the ESS TeamAdditional DutiesAttend meetings and training sessionsHelp maintain a clean and organized work areaProvide a supportive and positive learning environmentRequired/Preferred Education: High school degree or higher Ideally, candidates will hold an associate's degree or higher,Required/Preferred Experience: Has experience in special education.Required/Preferred Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an interest in reading great books. Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred.Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
