Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking probationary Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers in pedagogical and classroom-management tasks. The position is probationary and eligible for tenure, with responsibilities including small-group instruction and progress monitoring of IEP goals.

Candidates should have NYS TA I/II/III or Special Education certification, experience with special education students, strong communication skills, and familiarity with Google Classroom and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Certification required: NYSED TA I/II/III or NYSED Teacher Certification (Special Education).
• Experience working with special education students with wide range of needs.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
• Experience providing small group instruction is preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with instructional tasks and management.
• Provide information about students to help develop learning experiences.
• Collect data and monitor progress toward IEP goals where appropriate.
• Assist students with instructional resources and materials.
• Support instructional duties as directed by the teacher, including when the teacher is absent.
