Job summary

Nassau BOCES is seeking probationary Teaching Assistants to support classroom teachers in special education settings across multiple locations. The role involves assisting with instructional projects, data collection, and progress monitoring of IEP goals under teacher guidance.

Qualifications include NYS Teaching Assistant Certification I-III or NYS Special Education Teacher Certification. Strong communication, group instruction experience, and familiarity with Google Classroom and Microsoft

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS Teaching Assistant Certification I/II/III or NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with special education students with diverse needs.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Experience providing small group instruction in academic areas preferred.
• Knowledge of Google Classroom and instructional technology.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups on special instructional projects under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Provide the classroom teacher with information about students to aid in designing learning experiences.
• Collect student data and monitor progress toward IEP goals where appropriate.
• Assist students in using instructional resources and help develop instructional materials.
• Assist the classroom teacher with related instructional tasks as required.
• In the absence of the classroom teacher, assume all instructional duties.
