Job summary

Ignite Achievement Academy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students with disabilities within the BEACON program. You will work with a classroom teacher to implement individualized instructional plans for a small class of four to six students.

This role focuses on one-on-one and small-group instruction, behavior support, and using adaptive technology and assistive devices. Hours are 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with opportunities for professional growth

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required for employment.
• Experience with children with special needs preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instructional activities and lessons tailored to students with disabilities.
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Transition students to and from the restroom and provide prompting to maintain bathroom hygiene.
• Implement and reinforce classroom routines and behavior management strategies.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to keep students engaged and on task.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment.
• Communicate progress and needs with the teacher and staff.
• Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
• Assist with adapting technology and assistive devices to support learning.
