Job summary

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) MASSA campus in Tucson, AZ is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to deliver individualized instruction and services aligned with IEPs. The role collaborates with families, general education teachers, and support staff to support student progress and development.

The position requires Arizona State Certification in Special Education and a bachelor’s degree in Education (or related field with 2+ years of K–8 experience).

Qualifications

• Arizona State Certification in Special Education is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with at least two years of K–8 teaching experience.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and special education services.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support based on student needs.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Commitment to supporting Title I, multilingual, and diverse student populations.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and obtain/maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with IEPs based on individual needs.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and update IEP goals.
• Differentiate instruction for varying academic and developmental levels.
• Use performance data to evaluate growth and adjust instruction.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and IEP requirements.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, goals, and services.
• Participate in IEP meetings and parent conferences.
• Establish a structured, inclusive classroom environment.
• Utilize PBIS and behavioral supports for students.
• Engage in professional development and school-based meetings.
• Collaborate with school and network teams to improve practices.
