Job description

Special Education Teacher

Ohio | Virtual | 2026-2027 School Year | Contract

eLuma is seeking virtual special education teachers in OH who share in our mission to help all students achieve their potential.

Students with disabilities have a legal right to a free and appropriate public education. Delivering on that promise requires qualified special education teachers who understand IEPs, differentiated instruction, and what it takes to help every student access the curriculum.

For over 15 years, eLuma has been helping school districts protect instructional continuity for students with disabilities. We are building our network of credentialed special education teachers for the school year and are looking for dedicated educators who want flexibility, strong support, and the chance to serve students who need them most.

If you are ready to make a real impact on your own terms, we want to hear from you.

About This Opportunity

We are actively placing Ohio special education teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. You deliver instruction remotely from your own space, on a schedule coordinated with your assigned district, backed by an experienced team that understands the unique demands of school-based special education. We work to match your credentials, availability, and instructional strengths to the right placement.

  • Implement and adapt evidence-based instructional strategies for diverse learning profiles

  • Provide case management and support the facilitation of IEPs

  • Develop, monitor, and update IEP goals in collaboration with the school-based team

  • Track student progress toward academic, behavioral, and functional goals and adjust instruction accordingly

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families

  • Complete required IEP documentation, progress reports, and case management tasks within district timelines

  • Participate in IEP meetings and student support team discussions virtually

What You’ll Need

Required:

  • Active state teaching license in Ohio with a special education endorsement (at least one state; see cross-licensing benefit below)

  • Bachelor's degree minimum; Master's degree preferred

  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance

  • Minimum one year of classroom-based special education experience

  • Availability Monday through Friday during standard school hours (schedule coordinated with the assigned district)

Preferred, or a Plus:

  • Experience with specific disability categories

  • Familiarity with IEP platforms

  • Prior experience in virtual or hybrid instructional settings

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish and other languages welcome)
