Job summary

Achieve Beyond is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher in Suffolk, NY to support children with special needs across home, clinic and community settings. The role offers a flexible schedule and teamwork with a network of clinicians and supervisors to ensure high-quality service.

You will work with diverse cases, contribute to individualized education plans, and document progress while upholding HIPAA and state regulations. Prior NYS certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS certification/licensure in Special Education.
• Experience with pediatric populations is preferred.
• Ability to work in diverse settings and with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric therapy services and/or evaluations to children birth to 21 in various settings.
• Educate families on intervention strategies to ensure carry-over.
• Work in homes, daycare centers, clinics, and community settings.
• Follow therapy plans, plan ongoing treatment, and document progress.
• Prepare progress reports and maintain confidential records per HIPAA and laws.
• Submit required records within established timelines.

Job Responsibilities For a Special Education Teacher

• Provide pediatric therapy services and/or evaluations to children aged birth 21 years in a natural setting.
• Educate families and caregivers on applicable intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.
• Work in diverse settings such as client homes, daycare homes/centers, preschools, clinics, and other community settings.
• Follow the unique therapy plan established for a family/child, plan for ongoing treatment and address identified goals while documenting progress.
• Prepare progress reports as indicated.
• Maintain child records and confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations). Required records must be submitted within the established timelines.

Requirements For a Special Education Teacher

• Must have a passion for working with children and families!
• One of the following NYS certifications/licenses:
• Students with Disabilities (Birth 2) Initial or Professional Certification
• Permanent Special Education Certification
• TSHH Permanent Certification
• TSLD Initial or Professional Certification
• NYS Licensed Master Social Worker
• NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Must be self-motivated and a team player who exercises patience and professionalism.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus!

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including but not limited to:
• Driving a personal vehicle, walking and/or the use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
• The ability to ascend and descend staircases.
• The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.
• The ability to sit on the floor, kneel and/or crawl for extended periods of time.

Starting Rate

Compensation is determined based on experience and education and will be discussed during the Special Education Teacher Job interview process.
