Job summary

White Bear Lake Area Schools, ISD #624 seeks a Special Education Teacher for a long-term substitute at Otter Lake Elementary. The 1.0 FTE position runs Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., from November 11, 2026, to February 12, 2027.

The teacher provides direct instructional services, collaborates with the building team, and supports paraeducators. A MN Teaching License in Special Education is required or eligible, with ASD licensure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in teaching, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working with secondary special education students desired.
• MN Teaching License in Special Education or related services; ASD Licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional services and learning programs to students.
• Assist students to develop skills and knowledge for future learning.
• Work under limited supervision of the Building Principal; oversee Paraeducators - Special Services.

Work week: 1.0 FTE Monday Through Friday 7:15-3:15 (Student day 7:30 am- 2:15 pm)

Student Level: Elementary (Otter Lake Elementary)

Position Summary

Performs difficult professional work providing a broad range of teaching and direct instructional services or specific learning programs, assisting students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation for future learning in accordance with each student's ability, using a variety of teaching and learning methods at various levels to a targeted audience, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Principal. Continuous oversight is exercised over Paraeducators - Special Services.

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in teaching, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with secondary special education students desired.

Special Requirements

MN Teaching License in the area of Special Education or related services, ASD Licensure preferred
