Position: Special Education Teacher - Life Skills (Grades 5-6)

Location: Parker Middle School

General Description: Special Education teacher for students with intellectual disabilities in grades 5 & 6. Students’ programming ranges from partial inclusion to substantially separate. Provide direct specialized instruction in a small group setting. The role includes teaching functional academic skills, activities of daily living, social skills, communication skills, and behavioral skills with a focus on fostering independence. Manage support staff, collaborate with service providers, and oversee scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Design, supervise, and implement students’ IEP plans
  • Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations
  • Participate in IEP Team meetings
  • Write effective IEPs for students
  • Collect and analyze student data and monitor progress
  • Coordinate services with a team of professionals
  • Consult with general education teachers and related service providers
  • Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion
  • Write quarterly progress reports for IEP goals based on student performance
  • Conduct academic evaluations, interpret results, and write evaluation report within the timeline
