Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in ANY field.
• Foundations of special education course or willing to take the course as a term of employment.
• Will work toward obtaining a provisional Special Education License in Virginia.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with students, peers, admins, support staff and parents.
• Assess and monitor student achievement and maintain documents and evaluations for reporting.
• Design and implement instructional strategies and activities.
• Manage student behaviors to create a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate activities with other staff to maximize learning opportunities.
• Participate in in-service and staff meetings and professional development.
• Communicate instructional expectations to students and parents.
• Collaborate with professionals and support staff on schoolwide activities.
• Use multimedia to enhance learning.
• Plan lessons based on division and school objectives for students with varying ability.
• Provide development and management for IEPs, BSPs, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
