Job summary

Otsego Public Schools is seeking a Washington Street Elementary Special Education Teacher (Full-Time Level 1) to join our elementary staff. Starting date is immediate, with internal/external posting and ongoing vacancies.

The role involves instructing students with special needs, collaborating with staff to develop and evaluate programs, scheduling lessons, and coordinating with parents and professionals to develop IEPs for students' educational, physical, or social development.

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience in level 1 special education and elementary setting preferred.

• Collaborate with other teachers or administrators to develop, evaluate, or revise secondary school programs.

• Confer with parents, administrators, social workers, or other professionals to develop individual educational plans (IEPs) for students' educational, physical, or social development.

Primary tasks (non-exhaustive list)

• Instruct students with special needs in core content using a variety of techniques, such as pull out intervention groups and push in support into the general education classroom in order to meet students' varying needs.
• Collaborate with other teachers or administrators to develop, evaluate, or revise secondary school programs.
• Confer with other staff members to plan or schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.

Requirements:

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, with Special Education endorsement
• Experience in level 1 special education preferred
• Experience at the elementary level preferred
