Job summary

Alexandria Community School Corporation seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with emotional and behavioral needs in a self-contained classroom and in general education settings through inclusion and resource support.

The teacher will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement IEPs, deliver evidence-based interventions, monitor progress, and communicate with families, while upholding confidentiality and district policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Indiana mild intervention teaching licensure.
• Experience with behavior intervention strategies for students with emotional/behavioral disabilities preferred.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction in a self-contained classroom aligned to grade-level standards, differentiated to IEP goals.
• Deliver inclusion and resource support in general education settings.
• Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions (PBIS, de-escalation) to maintain a structured environment.
• Maintain a safe, predictable space supporting student regulation and learning.
• Lead IEP meetings, track progress, and document in compliance with federal/state guidelines.
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and supports.
• Supervise and guide paraprofessionals and support staff in the classroom.
• Collaborate with related service providers and school teams to support student outcomes.
