Winthrop Harbor School District #1 is seeking a Special Education Teacher to deliver tailored instruction for students with disabilities. You will collaborate with general education staff, support staff, and administrators to meet district goals and communicate with parents about student progress.

Responsibilities include developing IEPs, adapting curricula, providing direct instruction, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with IDEA and district policies.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois PEL with LBS1 Endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Two years teaching experience preferred with diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Develop & Implement IEPs: Create individualized education plans tailored to students' needs, abilities, and goals.
• Adapt Curriculum: Modify lesson plans and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Provide Direct Instruction: Teach core subjects using specialized techniques to help students with disabilities.
• Assess & Monitor Progress: Regularly evaluate students' progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with Team Members: Work with general education teachers, therapists, administrators, and parents.
• Behavior Management: Use positive reinforcement and behavioral strategies to maintain a structured environment.
• Advocate for Students: Ensure accommodations and support within the school system.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain records and ensure compliance with education laws.
