Job summary

Community Unit School District 308 seeks a Special Education Teacher to provide direct services to students with disabilities ages 3-21 and to collaborate with general and special education staff for the benefit of those students.

The teacher will manage a caseload, participate as an IEP team member, implement individualized education plans, monitor progress, and contribute to MTSS initiatives, while aligning with district policies and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Illinois PEL with LBS I endorsement.
• Recent special education teaching experience (except new graduates).
• Knowledge of MTSS prereferral intervention strategies.
• Ability to write and implement IEPs.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative consultation to staff regarding MTSS prereferral interventions.
• Collaborate with staff during team meetings and planning times.
• Screen and evaluate students, write reports with recommendations.
• Re-evaluate students as recommended by the IEP team.
• Submit records and assignments promptly and efficiently.
• Participate as an IEP team member and contribute evaluation findings.
• Work with staff to achieve IEP goals and benchmarks.
• Manage a caseload of students with disabilities.
• Provide individualized instruction to students with disabilities.
• Consult with classroom teachers and other providers.
• Maintain data to document performance and progress.
• Monitor student progress regularly.
• Communicate with parents and staff about student performance.
• Pursue professional development activities.
• Support district policies and procedures.
