Job summary

The Special Education Teacher delivers instruction to students with emotional impairments in specialized programs. You will plan an annual syllabus, develop IEPs, and collaborate with parents and staff to meet yearly goals while documenting attendance and grades in compliance with state requirements.

You will supervise 1:1 aides, conduct regular progress reviews, and coordinate with clinicians to support student learning and behavior, including planning field trips and classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree required; CTC credential required.
• Master’s degree desirable; internship with CTC encouraged.
• Mild/Moderate, Moderate Severe or LH credential required.
• At least 1 year of professional experience with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed youth.
• Experience in a Special Education-Mental Health environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage classroom behavior using all available resources.
• Teach daily lessons per approved syllabus.
• Supervise 1:1 aides and Educational Assistants.
• Monitor academic/behavioral progress per IEP/EP.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to assess needs and plan interventions.
• Complete end-of-year IEPs for assigned students.
• Attend school meetings and development workshops.
