Job summary

Propel Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for Propel Hazelwood for the 2026-2027 school year. Propel operates an extended year with 190 instructional days and 30 professional development days, totaling 220 work days.

Compensation ranges from $50,485 to $101,454 (year 4). Relocation assistance is available for moves 90 miles or more. Benefits include health insurance, a 403(b) with company match, paid leave, tuition assistance, wellness, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12, 9-12, or N-12.
• Experience working with the special education school age population preferred.
• Knowledge of SPED principles, laws, assessment practices, etc., and methods of maximizing learning for students with special needs.
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to develop rigorous lesson plans and assessments.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Design coherent instruction aligned with state standards and best practices.
• Develop and update learning resources and participate in professional development.
• Create an environment of respect and rapport to promote learning.
• Use varied instructional strategies to engage students.
• Manage student behavior and classroom procedures for a safe learning environment.
• Assess student learning and use results to drive instruction.
• Deliver and coordinate IEP supports with school personnel.
• Maintain accurate records and report progress.
• Prepare for annual performance expectations as directed.
