Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education classroom teacher assigned to the Extended Resource service pathway. The role involves planning and delivering individualized instruction, supporting students with diverse needs, and coordinating with the building principal and staff to foster an optimal learning environment.

The successful candidate will design and adapt lessons, monitor student progress, and provide counseling and guidance to students.

Qualifications

• Reading, writing, and oral communication skills essential for engaging with diverse students.
• Ability to design and deliver lessons aligned to IEP goals and district standards.
• Experience adapting curricula and materials for students with a wide range of abilities.
• Strong behavior management strategies and classroom routines for inclusive settings.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional programs and develop individual lesson plans for students with special needs.
• Deliver instruction, counsel, discipline, and supervise students to meet IEP goals.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support student achievement and progress.
• Maintain timely progress reports and prepare parent/guardian communications.
• Direct related duties and participate in required staff meetings and professional development.
