Special Education Teacher - Elementary Intervention Specialist, Mogadore Local School District

Position: Special Education Teacher - Elementary Intervention Specialist for the 2026-2027 School Year.

Reports to: Building Principal.

Licensure and Experience

• Ohio Intervention Specialist License.
• Ability to instruct students in grades K-3 or 4-6 units with disabilities, including academic, behavioral, and physical special needs in a cross-categorical school setting.

Qualifications

• Clear BCI and FBI records.

Performance Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with general education teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curricula as required, and helping students with their class assignments and assessments.
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding educational, social, and personal needs of students.
• Assist special education students in assessing their abilities and establishing educational and vocational goals aligned with their strengths.
• Develop and implement an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each child, complementary to strengths and needs, in accordance with the Evaluation Team Report and IEP process.
• Participate in IEP and ETR meetings.
• Develop and implement post-secondary transition goals, assessments, experiences and training for students aged 14 years.
• Prepare daily lesson plans, strategies and activities to meet identified needs.
• Assess students with appropriate diagnostic instruments and evaluate progress.
• Comply with Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities regarding placement, instruction and evaluation.
• Maintain required reports and record‑keeping as per state and local policies.
• Participate in professional growth activities such as workshops, district trainings and higher education.
• Maintain a safe and functional classroom, including a management system, behavioral plan, and documentation of significant behaviors.
• Administer all assessments required by district or state, including alternate assessments when required.
• Refer students and parents to local support agencies and coordinate services.
• Monitor students in non‑academic situations (assemblies, bus loading/unloading, fire drills, hallways).
• Provide direction and guidance to classroom aides through procedures, schedules and coordinated implementation of IEP goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
