Qualifications

Early Intervention Developmental Specialist

Per Diem rate: $20.00-$28.00/hour

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Early Intervention Developmental Specialist to join our team, focusing on early intervention services. In this role, you will work closely with children aged 0‑5 years and their families to assess, diagnose, and support their developmental needs.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Complete developmental assessments and reports.
• Provide home visits to families to support parent/child interactions through developmentally appropriate play activities.
• Check in with families enrolled in the program.
• Educate parents and implement an early intervention plan.
• Create a positive and nurturing environment for the children and infants.
• Perform a variety of tasks defined on the IFSP for staff.
• Attend monthly and weekly staff meetings.
• Provide support in parent/child or parent/teacher interaction that encourages developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers as needs change.
• Contribute to various reports such as progress reports for IFSPs within timelines.
• Maintain confidentiality with respect to information and records concerning children, families and staff in compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Be competent with electronic documentation.
• Carry a caseload and travel to each home as needed using own transportation.
• Maintain car insurance and car maintenance.
• Assist in organizational committees to improve services and family support.
• Use SMS messaging consistently to keep communication flowing between team members.

Education and Training Requirements

An EIS possesses at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in Early Intervention, Child Development or a closely related field.

Alternate requirement accepted: AA degree in Child Development or related field plus the equivalent of an associate teacher California Child Development permit (12 units) plus coursework to meet EIA competencies, including supervised fieldwork in early intervention and 4 years of experience working as an EIA.
