Job summary

Eckerd Connects Job Corps is seeking a Special Education/Academic Instructor in Virginia to deliver instruction in designated subjects within a regular classroom setting. The role emphasizes a positive classroom climate to motivate students and maintain discipline for effective learning.

You will establish strong rapport with students, utilize diverse curriculum resources, and manage attendance and records in collaboration with the Student Records area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• DOE teaching certification in state of Virginia (Virginia).
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Pass a drug screen per policy and background check required.

Salary Rate; $50,000

$5,000 Sign-on bonus for DOE Certified Teachers

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Special Education/Academic Instructor performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instructions in designated subject area.
• The Special Education/Academic Instructor promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to insure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Maintains student personnel folders; records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. DOE teaching certification in state of Virginia.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
