The Dobbs Ferry School District seeks a Special Education Teacher at the Dobbs Ferry High School, effective August 27, 2025. This is a full-time, probationary, tenure track position. Terms of employment in accordance with the Dobbs Ferry United Teachers collective bargaining unit; salary commensurate with experience.
NYSED Certification Special Education K-12, Students with Disabilities (All Grades), or Students with Disabilities (7-12) required.
Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction that promotes active student engagement and meaningful learning experiences.
Develop clear, engaging, and relevant lesson plans that appropriately challenge students and demonstrate current educational pedagogy.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and progress, and adjust instructional strategies to effectively address each student’s individual needs.
Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to effectively support differentiated instruction.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues.
Encourage family involvement and maintain clear and consistent communication with students and their families.
Collaborate effectively in co-teaching settings and participate in interdisciplinary instructional planning.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Knowledge of high-leverage practices in special education.
Experience in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including writing measurable goals, progress monitoring, and identifying appropriate modifications and accommodations.
Comprehensive understanding of the NYS Learning Standards.
Ability to analyze instructional data to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
Demonstrated commitment to professional growth, self-reflection, and continual learning.
Experience providing multisensory reading instruction is a plus.
