Sage Alliance Schools in Mahwah, NJ is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher for a self-contained classroom serving grades 2-4 with emotional regulation needs. The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, strong communication, and collaboration with families and staff.

You will develop engaging lessons aligned with standards, track progress, maintain records, and contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning environment that helps students succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• NJ teaching certification (Special Education K-12)
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Subject area certification and/or relevant classroom experience
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student-centered learning
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Experience with Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Self-contained teaching experience
• CPI Training in verbal de-escalation and restraint

In this role, you will be responsible for a special education classroom (grades 2-4) designed for students who struggle with emotional self-regulation, anxiety, and/or behavioral challenges.

What You’ll Need

• Valid New Jersey teaching certification (Special Education K-12)

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• Subject area certification and/or relevant classroom experience

• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and student-centered learning

• Excellent communication and classroom management skills

• Experience with Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)

• Self-contained teaching experience

• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training in verbal de-escalation and restraint
