This role involves managing student behavior, collaborating with parents and staff, and potentially implementing behavior intervention plans. Key qualifications include a Minnesota Special Education license and a strong understanding of ASD-related needs and teaching practices.

Special Education Teacher – Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with ASD.
• Instruct and monitor students in a center-based classroom, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet diverse needs.
• Assess student progress and competency through various methods and provide performance feedback.
• Establish and enforce behavioral expectations while maintaining an orderly classroom environment.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address academic and behavioral challenges.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and health care procedures as needed.
• Stay current with best practices in autism education through professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess or be eligible for a Special Education license in the State of Minnesota.
• Preferred licensure areas include ASD or ABS (Autism and Related Disabilities).
• Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective teaching practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Successful student teaching experience required; two years of experience preferred.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents.
