Description:

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. This position will be a Special EducationTeacher in Learning Support. SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements instructional programs and specially designed instruction in accordance with student IEPs, district curriculum, and Pennsylvania academic standards.
  • Provides direct instruction, intervention, and support services to students with disabilities in individual, small-group, classroom, and specialized instructional settings, as appropriate.
  • Develops, monitors, and maintains IEPs, progress reports, evaluation information, and related special education documentation in accordance with IDEA, Chapter 14, and district procedures.
  • Assesses student performance and progress using formal and informal assessment methods to guide instructional planning and intervention.
  • Implements accommodations, modifications, assistive technology, and behavioral supports to support student access and participation in the educational environment.
  • Collaborates with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, instructional assistants, counselors, and families regarding student instructional programming and support needs.
  • Participates in IEP meetings, reevaluation meetings, manifestation determination meetings, MTSS meetings, Section 504 meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings, as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains a safe, respectful, structured, and supportive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Supports implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), behavioral interventions, and social-emotional learning initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Supervises instructional assistants, paraprofessionals, and support staff assigned to students or instructional programs, as applicable.
  • Maintains accurate records related to attendance, grades, progress monitoring, behavior documentation, and instructional data.
  • Communicates effectively with students, families, administrators, staff, and outside agencies regarding student progress, instructional needs, and educational planning.
  • Integrates instructional technology, adaptive supports, and educational resources into instructional programming.
  • Supports transition planning, vocational programming, community-based instruction, and independent living skill development, as appropriate to assignment.
  • Supervises students during instructional and non-instructional activities, including lunch, recess, transitions, field trips, vocational experiences, and school events, as assigned.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student, personnel, medical, and operational information.
  • Participates in required meetings, trainings, professional development activities, district initiatives, and school improvement efforts.

Terms of employment:

Full-time, contractedposition to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Position to begin August 24, 2026 or as soon as available. Induction training will be the week of August 17th.
