Job summary

American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a Tennessee-based Special Education Technical Assistance Provider for a part-time, remote role with travel. You will deliver evidence-based professional development, coaching, and technical assistance to educators at local and state levels, focusing on IDEA compliance and effective instructional practices.

The role requires residency in Tennessee, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work onsite or virtually with diverse education

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in special education or related field with 4+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s with 6+ years.
• Knowledge of IDEA and related special education requirements.
• Extensive experience designing and delivering virtual and onsite professional development and coaching to Tennessee educators.
• Experience using evidence-based instructional practices and strategies for professional development and adult learning.
• Experience providing direct special education-related training, coaching, or technical assistance to local educators or instructional leaders.
• Familiarity with strategies supporting students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
• Experience collaborating with education service providers, curriculum developers, researchers, or professional associations.

Responsibilities

• Develop training materials, implementation measures, and monitoring protocols.
• Deliver training, professional development, and coaching to support teachers implementing programs.
• Provide expertise on literacy teaching and learning for research activities and results.
• Contribute to reports describing findings for clients and partners.
• Represent AIR in interactions with state and local staff and potential clients.
• Contribute to capacity-building within special education organizations and provider networks.
• Lead or supervise research/TA assistants and project teams as needed.
• Support pursuit of new business opportunities through planning and proposals.
• Manage projects or tasks with increasing responsibility.
