Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Licensure & Certification: NYS Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I-III) or active enrollment.
• Student supervision: ability to supervise students and maintain safety protocols for elopement risk.
• Collaboration & communication: strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work in a team.
• Professional integrity: reliable, ethical and trusted.
• Confidentiality: handle sensitive student data with discretion.
• Background clearance: successful completion of NYSED fingerprinting background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the certified teacher in implementing lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and NYSED standards.
• Provide small group and individualized instructional support to reinforce learning.
• Support differentiated instruction by adapting materials to meet diverse needs.
• Reinforce positive behaviors and engagement.
• Maintain safe, structured and inclusive classroom environments.
• Supervise students across all school settings and monitor safety.
