Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of how to support students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Ability to follow daily plans and provide instruction under supervision.
• Familiarity with IEPs and educational content used by teachers.

Responsibilities

• Model appropriate behavior in the classroom and community.
• Provide individual or group assistance under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Serve as a substitute teacher when the classroom teacher is absent and follow plans during the absence.
• Be informed regarding the IEPs of students in the classroom.
• Be knowledgeable of instructional content and methods used by the classroom teacher.
• Provide assistance with classroom activities and reinforce learning in all subject areas.
• Accompany and supervise students during special activities (PE, Art, Music).
• Provide supervision for job site experiences.
• Assist with toileting and personal care as needed.
• Supervise lunch and recess and other scheduled times.
• Work toward acquiring Driving Endorsement A.
