Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability in Manhattan seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student development. You will assist with routine activities, manage materials, and help implement individualized plans under supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, data collection and collaboration with therapists and teachers. The position requires NYSED Teacher Assistant certification or active pursuit, plus completion of required workshops and ATAS.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication with students, families and staff.
• Ability to observe, record data and escalate concerns.
• Willingness to perform ADL supports and personal care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supports teacher with educational activities in classroom.
• Provides small group and 1:1 student support.
• Assists with meal times, safety procedures and data collection.
• Maintains cleanliness and prepares materials for lessons.
