Job summary

Monroe One BOCES is canvassing for the 2026-2027 school year to fill periodic long term substitute vacancies in Fairport, NY 14450 and other locations. Applicants must hold valid NYS Teaching Assistant or Teacher certificates and have experience with students with disabilities.

Responsibilities include delivering instructional services under supervision, supporting IEPs, adapting lessons, collecting data, and helping with daily living skills and behavior plans.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate or NYS Teacher Certificate required.
• Experience working with students with behavioral/emotional disabilities preferred.
• College level work in education preferred.
• Training in individual and classroom management systems preferred.
• Training in Life Space Interventions/SCIP-R/TCI/CPI or similar systems preferred.
• Physically able to perform essential functions including lifting and carrying.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Long Term Substitute, or the possibility for per diem decided pending HR approval

STARTING DATE:

This is an ongoing canvassing for the 2026-2027 School Year for applicants in order to fill periodic vacancies as they arise

SALARY RANGE:

$33,252 - $52,269 ... Final salary offer will be prorated based on duration of Long-Term Substitute assignment

Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

Duties

• Provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
• Assist classroom teacher in implementation of Individualized Education Plans for students exhibiting significant communication, learning and behavioral disabilities.
• Adapt and implement classroom lessons and activities under the supervision of the teacher.
• Work cooperatively with staff, administration, and consultants to implement and monitor Individual Behavior Plans.
• Communicate effectively with the team including classroom teachers, other professional staff, and parents.
• Collect data and provide input to the behavioral specialist and classroom group.
• Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting, etc.).
• Accompany students to and from all areas outside of the classroom (swimming, riding the bus, etc.).
• Plan and implement daily activities.
• Assist with maintaining record-keeping.
• Assist students in communicating utilizing adaptive communication devices.
• Attend staffing meetings and training before and after school as needed.
• Attend training specific to students.
• Support students in work programs.
• Other duties as determined by the classroom teacher or building administrator.

• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:
• Ability to use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.

• Walking, running, and/or escorting students in multiple settings.
