Job summary

Douglas County School District seeks an Education Assistant IV for the Significant Support Needs program. Under supervision of a licensed SPED teacher, you provide intensive, individualized support to students with significant cognitive or medical needs.

You assist with mobility, health procedures, and instruction to promote safety and independence. You will collaborate on IEP goals, support daily living skills, and use communication methods like PECS or AAC.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with fidelity.
• Commitment to student dignity, safety, and maximum independence.
• Willingness to assist with personal care, toileting, and mobility with training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with student positioning, transferring, and mobility using specialized equipment.
• Monitor delegated health care procedures and mobility support as trained.
• Maintain a safe, clean learning environment; supervise during transitions and meals.
• Support IEP goals across settings, reinforcing academics and life skills; use AAC/PECS.
