Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with disabilities in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP objectives, monitor behavior, and provide information to school personnel for student progress.

The role includes adapting activities, administering materials, first aid, and collaborating with teachers and families to ensure safe, effective learning environments for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraeducator assessment or equivalent credential/qualification may be required.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials to support participation of all special education students.
• Administer materials and assignments to assist teacher in evaluating progress and organizing needs of the student.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as required to provide appropriate care for injured children.
• Assist students needing support in personal care due to medical conditions or physical limitations.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings for information related to job functions.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to report progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Direct and implement behavioral plans to meet student needs and maintain safety.
• Instruct students in activities to reinforce instructional objectives and remediation plans.
• Maintain instructional materials and student records to ensure availability and accuracy.
• Monitor students across various school environments to ensure a safe learning environment.
