Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional/Paraeducator to support students with disabilities and learning needs. This 0.5 FTE position (4 hours per day) begins September 1, 2026, with a full benefits package and a 183-day, 10-month schedule as per district guidelines.

Responsibilities include assisted instruction, personal care support, data recording, and collaboration with certified staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of 72 college credits or passing the Para Pro Test.
• AA degree required for consideration.
• BA or higher degree preferred or required depending on district policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with activities of daily living and behavioral supports as needed per student plans.
• Supervise students during lunch and recess and assist with bus loading/unloading as required.
• Document student progress and communicate with teachers and families as assigned.
• Assist with classroom setup, adapt materials, and support testing as directed.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality of student information and records.
• Support other ESP duties as assigned by the district.
