Job summary

YAI Network in New York City seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support students with disabilities in inclusive classroom settings. You will assist the teacher with instructional activities, prepare materials, and help manage behavior and daily living tasks.

This role requires NYSED TA certification or active pursuit, strong communication, and the ability to work with diverse learners, including travel to internships as needed, and collaboration with therapists and staff.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYSED Teacher Assistant certification or be actively pursuing it.
• Passing score on NYSTCE ATAS exam and completion of required workshops.
• Ability to meet physical demands and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support teacher with educational activities and classroom routines.
• Assist with ADLs, toileting and personal care as needed.
• Document student progress and communicate with staff.
• Provide behavior supports and help manage challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate with therapists and support staff across the program.
