Job summary

Mason City Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide at Mason High School to support students with individualized education plans and assist the intervention team.

You will work under supervision with one-on-one or small groups, reinforce material introduced by teachers, and help with clerical tasks and documentation on site. This role may involve supporting students with self-help skills and, when needed, medical needs as described in the job duties.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher.
• Works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin boards, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned
