Job summary

Gilbert Community School District seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support students with IEPs in a school setting. You will work under guidance of general and special education teachers to promote academic, emotional, and social development.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional goals, data recording for progress and Medicaid, and supervising students in various settings while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate positively with students, staff, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist with educational, social, and behavioral goals in IEPs.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing and maintaining student records.
• Assist with progress monitoring data collection and recording.
• Record required data for Medicaid with proper training.
• Assist teacher with developing alternative assessments as specified in IEPs.
• Support individual or small-group instruction under teacher direction.
• Supervise students in lunchroom, restrooms, halls, playgrounds, and other areas.
• Monitor and assist with assignment completion per IEP components.
• Assist with health care needs as per IEP guidelines.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate with parents as directed.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and staff.
