Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. The role includes implementing instructional plans, monitoring behavior, and attending IEP meetings as needed.

You will adapt activities under teacher direction, assist with assessments and progress reporting, and collaborate with teachers and families to support individual education programs, ensuring safe and positive learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment as published by PESB.
• An associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or 72 quarter credits/48 semester credits.
• Completion of a paraeducator apprenticeship program or equivalent credential.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials under teacher direction to include all students.
• Assists in implementing IEP objectives and monitoring progress.
• Directs and implements behavioral plans for students with behavior disorders.
• Instructs students in academics, social and daily living skills.
• Maintains student records and materials for reliability and accessibility.
• Monitors students for safety and orderly conduct in various school settings.
